A beloved sorority sister — just months away from graduating from Syracuse University — died in a house fire on Christmas Eve.

Kayla Corrigan, a 21-year-old senior at Syracuse University, died in a devastating house fire early Christmas Eve morning while staying at her family’s home in Needham, Massachusetts. The fire broke out around 5 a.m. at the three-story, single-family home, located about 15 miles outside of Boston.

According to fire officials, the blaze appears to have started in the home’s garage. When firefighters arrived on the scene, they were met with heavy smoke and intense flames already consuming the structure. “The first responding personnel attempted entry but were pushed back by the raging fire, which quickly spread throughout the structure and caused catastrophic damage,” officials said in a press release.

Two adults were able to escape the home safely, but Corrigan was unable to get out. She was later found inside the charred remains of the house. The fire was so severe that it required a four-alarm response, with roughly 75 firefighters battling the flames for more than seven hours before bringing the fire under control.

Investigators are still working to determine the exact cause of the blaze. Multiple potential heat sources were identified in the area where the fire is believed to have started, all of which are thought to be accidental. State Fire Marshal Jon M. Davine noted that tragedies like this are most common during the winter months, when heating equipment and electrical usage increase.

“Our thoughts have been with the family since the early morning hours of December 24 and they remain with the family today,” Needham Fire Chief Thomas Conroy said.

News of Corrigan’s death sent shockwaves through the Syracuse University campus. The university announced her passing in an email to students and faculty, describing her as a driven and engaged student who was just months away from graduation. Corrigan was pursuing a degree in marketing management at the Whitman School of Management, where she had immersed herself in internships and hands-on learning.

“Kayla immersed herself in internships, strengthening her understanding of navigating marketing decisions in an evolving global landscape,” Syracuse University senior vice president and chief student experience officer Allen Groves wrote. He also encouraged students impacted by the loss to seek counseling and support services.

Corrigan was also a beloved member of Sigma Delta Tau, where sisters remembered her for her warmth, humor, and selflessness. In a heartfelt Instagram post, the sorority described her as having a “beautiful presence” and being “such a kind and caring soul.”

“Everyone who knew her recognized her kindness, her warmth, her humor, and her selflessness,” the post read. “Kayla will forever hold a special place in our hearts and will be undoubtedly missed.”

In the wake of the tragedy, a GoFundMe was launched to support Corrigan’s family, whose home and belongings were destroyed in the fire. The fundraiser described her as a “beautiful and beloved sister and daughter,” adding, “Words cannot express the depth of our grief or the shock of this loss.”

Donations have poured in from across the Syracuse community, including sororities, fraternities, and the university’s men’s hockey team. More than $200,000 has already been raised, a powerful testament to the impact Corrigan made in her short life.

Though her life ended far too soon, those who knew Kayla Corrigan say her kindness and selflessness will not be forgotten.

Prince William Eager to Modernize ‘Outdated’ Royal Christmas Traditions https://www.familytoday.com/living/prince-william-eager-to-modernize-outdated-royal-christmas-traditions/ Mon, 29 Dec 2025 20:30:49 +0000 https://www.familytoday.com/?p=72738 Future king reportedly wants palace staff included in festivities and questions famous Christmas Day church walk.

Prince William is reportedly eager to modernize the royal family’s Christmas traditions, but not without some resistance from his father, King Charles III. According to royal experts, the Prince of Wales hopes to bring a more relaxed, family-centered feel to the holiday season, even if that means rethinking traditions that have been around for decades.

Royal commentator Neil Sean told Fox News Digital that William believes some traditions feel forced and outdated. One example is the long-standing custom of exchanging joke gifts on Christmas Eve — a ritual started by Queen Elizabeth II.

“Every year, the royals truly let their hair down and show off their sense of humor,” Sean explained. “Every Christmas Eve, the famous trestle table is set up… These are £1 and £5 joke presents.”

However, Sean said William wants to move away from rigid hierarchy and make celebrations more inclusive. “What William wants to do is include more participation from palace staff… more family-oriented, less formal, and less about seniority,” he said.

Another tradition up for discussion is the annual Christmas Day walk to church, where royals greet well-wishers. While beloved by the public, William reportedly sees it as deeply personal. “He does not necessarily like being on display on what he views as a private and sacred day,” Sean said. Still, William understands why his father values the moment. “For the king, it’s important to interact with the public who give up part of their Christmas Day to meet the royals.”

Even within the family, opinions differ. Sean noted that Princess Catherine tends to agree more with King Charles on maintaining tradition. “Like with so many things, it is all up for discussion in the future of the monarchy under King William,” he said.

According to The Daily Mail, William has grown accustomed to quieter holidays with his wife and children, favoring the “Middleton-style ‘family chaos’” over more formal royal gatherings.

Royal expert Hilary Fordwich added that William is uncomfortable with hierarchy and rigid formality. “He rejects this sort of pecking order,” she said. “He wants his courtiers to feel less stiff… while still preserving the monarchy’s mystique.” She pointed to changes like relaxed dress codes and fewer expectations around bowing and curtseying.

When it comes to gift-giving, William reportedly wants to make it more fun and inclusive. “He wants to get a huge barrel… and have everyone plunge their hand in,” Sean said.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams believes the tradition itself isn’t going anywhere. “If the royals did not give each other joke gifts, it would be a joke,” he said, calling the tradition “Dickens in a Cartier setting.”

The stories behind those gifts are legendary. True Royalty TV co-founder Nick Bullen said the royals enjoy “slightly rude, slightly funny” presents — from whoopee cushions to novelty bath toys. Author Christopher Andersen even claimed King Charles once received an upholstered toilet seat and loved it so much he traveled with it.

Princess Anne, often dubbed the family’s best gift-giver, once gave Prince Philip a light-up pepper grinder. Prince Harry reportedly gifted the late Queen a talking fish plaque, while William once gave his grandmother slippers with her own face on them.

As the monarchy slowly evolves, one thing remains clear: whether formal or fun, Christmas behind palace walls is anything but boring.

The Big Brother family — and fans across the country — are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Mickey Lee, who died on Christmas Day at just 35 years old after suffering a series of cardiac arrests. Her sudden passing has left loved ones grieving and remembering a woman whose warmth, faith, and authenticity touched everyone she met.

Lee, who appeared on Season 27 of Big Brother, was hospitalized earlier in the week after experiencing complications related to the flu. Her family later confirmed that she suffered multiple cardiac arrests before passing away on Dec. 25.

“With profound sadness, the family of Mickey Lee announces her transition on Christmas in the early evening,” her loved ones shared in a statement on Instagram. “Mickey captured the hearts of audiences nationwide through her appearance on Big Brother, where her authenticity, strength, and spirit left a lasting impression on fans and fellow cast members alike.”

They added, “She will be remembered for the joy she brought into the lives of so many and for the genuine connections she formed both on and off screen.”

The outpouring of love has been overwhelming. Friends, fans, and fellow Big Brother alumni flooded social media with tributes, reflecting on Mickey’s kindness, laughter, and unmistakable light.

Julie Chen Moonves, longtime host of Big Brother, shared a deeply personal message, recalling a recent interview she had with Mickey. “Two months ago I interviewed Mickey Lee on God 101,” she wrote. “That’s when she revealed to me that she was born with a hole in her heart, and as an adult she survived an ATV accident that should have killed her, but God kept her alive. Last night God brought her home.”

She added, “I will see you again on the other side in eternity. I pray the good Lord comforts and heals your family and loved ones as we grieve your passing.”

Former houseguest Rachel Reilly also reflected on their bond. “We walked into the Big Brother house as strangers and walked out bonded for life,” she shared. “I wish I could still thank her for the memories, the laughter, and the moments only we will ever understand.”

Other cast members echoed similar sentiments, remembering Mickey as warm, genuine, and full of life. “She shared so much light with us and was such an amazing soul,” wrote Bayleigh Pelham. “This one hurts.”

Originally from Jacksonville, Florida, and later living in Atlanta, Mickey was known not only for her time on reality television but also for her creativity and compassion. A GoFundMe created during her hospitalization noted that she was a “vibrant, strategic, and unforgettable personality” who brought joy wherever she went. The fundraiser raised more than $32,000 to help cover medical expenses.

In their final message, her family expressed gratitude for the support they’ve received during this unimaginable time. “Your kindness has been felt and is sincerely appreciated,” they wrote, while also requesting privacy as they grieve.

Though her life was tragically short, those who knew and loved Mickey Lee say her impact will last far beyond her years. As her family beautifully shared, “Mickey’s light, legacy, and impact will never be forgotten.”

What started as a lighthearted moment at a Coldplay concert has turned into a life-altering ordeal for Kristin Cabot, the woman at the center of a viral kiss cam scandal that cost her career and upended her personal life.

Cabot, a married mother of two and the former head of human resources at tech company Astronomer, is now speaking out about the incident that unfolded during Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour stop at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts this past July. In a new interview with the New York Times, Cabot admitted that a “couple of High Noons” fueled the decision that put her on the stadium’s big screen alongside her boss, Astronomer CEO Andy Byron.

“I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss,” Cabot said. “And it’s not nothing. And I took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That’s the price I chose to pay. I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really screw up. But you don’t have to be threatened to be killed for them.”

The moment became infamous when Cabot and Byron appeared on the kiss cam during Coldplay’s “Jumbotron Song,” when frontman Chris Martin serenades couples in the audience. Cabot immediately covered her face and turned away, while Byron ducked out of view. Martin quipped from the stage, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

Within days, Astronomer addressed the situation publicly. “Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding,” the company said in a social media statement. “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability.” The company added, “The Board of Directors has initiated a formal investigation into this matter, and we will have additional details to share very shortly.”

Byron was placed on leave and later resigned. “Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted,” Astronomer wrote. “The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”

Despite the viral speculation, a source previously told People that there was “no affair.” “[Cabot] and [Byron] had an excellent working relationship, a great friendship,” the source said. “There was no affair.” The source added, “It was inappropriate to be hugging your boss at a concert, and she accepts full responsibility for it. But the scandal, the downfall, the loss of the job — all of that is unfair.”

Cabot revealed that she and her husband were already separated at the time of the concert and later filed for divorce on Aug. 13, agreeing to keep proceedings private. She also shared how her bond with Byron deepened after they discussed their struggles earlier in the year. “I’m going through the same thing,” she recalled him saying, an admission that “sort of strengthened our connection.”

On the night of the concert, Cabot said an inner warning tried to stop her. “Some inside part of my brain might have been jumping up and down and waving its arms, saying, ‘Don’t do this,’” she said. “I was like: ‘I got this. I can have a crush. I can handle it.’”

After tequila cocktails, the two shared their first kiss. “It was like someone flipped a switch,” Cabot said. “I’ll never be able to explain it in any articulate or intelligent way.”

The aftermath was brutal. “I was so embarrassed and so horrified,” she said. “I’m the head of H.R. and he’s the C.E.O. It’s, like, so cliché and so bad.” She recalled thinking, “We have to tell the board,” as panic set in. “Panic attacks were starting,” she said.

When the clip went viral, Cabot retreated to the mountains, but the harassment followed. “My kids were afraid that I was going to die and they were going to die,” she said, noting she was doxxed and received hundreds of calls a day, along with death threats. “Not 900. That showed up in People magazine. I got 50 or 60.”

Now, Cabot says she and her children are finding small steps toward healing, doing their best to move forward after a moment that changed everything.

A tight-knit Alabama community is mourning the sudden and tragic loss of a beloved former sports reporter and educator after she and her husband were found dead in their home in what police believe was a murder-suicide. Their young son was found safe nearby.

Christina Chambers, a former WBRC 6 sports reporter who later left television to pursue teaching, and her husband, Johnny Rimes, were discovered at their family home in Hoover shortly after 9 a.m. December 9th, WBRC confirmed. The couple’s 3-year-old son was also inside the home but was unharmed, according to the Hoover Police Department.

Authorities said both adults suffered gunshot wounds and that investigators suspect the two died in “a murder/suicide,” though police emphasized that the case remains under investigation.

Chambers was widely respected in both journalism and education. After stepping away from full-time broadcasting, she became a broadcast journalism teacher at Thompson High School, where she quickly made a lasting impact. Her work earned her the Alabama Scholastic Press Association Advisor of the Year award in 2024, an honor highlighted on her Facebook page.

Alabaster City Schools praised Chambers for her influence on students and the school’s growing media program, noting her “meaningful connections” and “dedication” to her students. During her time at Thompson High School, Chambers helped the school earn a journalism sustainability award, mentored two students who went on to be named Alabama Journalists of the Year, led her team to a SkillsUSA State Championship in Broadcast News, and brought home two All-Alabama Overall Broadcast Awards.

Dr. Wayne Vickers, superintendent for Alabaster City Schools, remembered Chambers not only for her talent, but for her heart. “As a beloved member of the Warrior Nation Network, Christina brought her deep knowledge and love of sports reporting to Friday nights, leaving a lasting impression on students, colleagues, and viewers alike,” he wrote. “She was a cherished part of the Warrior family, and we extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to all who are grieving this profound loss.”

Chambers joined WBRC 6 in 2015 and quickly became a familiar face through the station’s popular “Sideline” segment, which brought local high school sports to life with live, on-the-field coverage. She also worked across other areas of sports reporting, sometimes even covering the same marathons she was racing in herself.

Although Chambers transitioned to teaching full-time in 2021, she maintained a connection to WBRC 6, continuing as a freelance reporter for “Sideline” during the most recent football season.

Before arriving in Birmingham, Chambers built her career at WLTZ NBC38 in Columbus, Georgia, and later at Comcast Sports Southeast in Atlanta, where she covered Auburn University athletics. According to her Facebook page, she remained a loyal supporter of the Tigers long after leaving the network.

She also proudly supported her alma mater, the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In her final Facebook post, Chambers celebrated the Blazers’ victory in the “Battle of the Bones.” A former student-athlete, she competed for four years on UAB’s Division I track and field team and graduated in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.

Outside of work, Chambers was an avid runner who competed in marathons around the world. She completed the Boston Marathon three times and had plans to run it again in 2026.

As the investigation continues, the focus for many remains on remembering Chambers’ passion, mentorship, and the countless lives she touched — in classrooms, on sidelines, and throughout the community she loved.

Kylie Kelce isn’t here for the parenting police—especially when it comes to her daughters’ names.

The wife of retired Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce recently opened up on her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast about the criticism she’s received online for choosing so-called “boy names” for her four daughters. Kylie and Jason are parents to Wyatt, 6; Elliotte, 4; Bennett, 2; and their youngest, Finn, who is just 7 months old.

Some fans have taken issue with the couple’s name choices, calling them too masculine. But Kylie was quick to set the record straight.

“This next question appears to be pure rage bait. ‘What’s with the boy names?’ I’ll tell you what’s with the boys’ names,” she said. “We, my husband and I, liked gender-neutral names for our daughters.”

Kylie explained that when she and Jason chose the name Wyatt, they didn’t even know their baby’s gender at the time. For them, the names weren’t about making a statement—they were simply names they loved.

“The part that I take issue with on people having issue with our names is that I actually didn’t ask,” Kylie said with a laugh. “I didn’t ask what you thought about my kids’ names. My husband and I agreed on the names. We like them. You, honestly, you should try naming a human being. It’s not easy. And so, yeah, I’m good.”

Her candid response struck a chord with many parents who know the pressures of public scrutiny, especially when raising a family in the spotlight. The Kelces, who rose to fame thanks to Jason’s NFL career and the family’s popularity on social media, have become beloved for their authenticity—but that openness sometimes comes with unwanted opinions.

Jason, who co-hosts the “New Heights” podcast with his brother and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, has also shared his perspective on parenting their four girls. He said that he and Kylie are very much aligned when it comes to discipline.

“We’re on the same page almost all the time,” Jason explained. “We’re both pretty disciplinarian when it comes to the girls.”

The proud dad also admitted that becoming a girl dad softened him in ways he didn’t expect. “When I first found out I was having Wyatt, I was like, ‘Okay. I’m not gonna raise her any different than how I would raise a boy,’” he recalled. “Then the moment she came out, it was very hard to not be that dad… it is very difficult when they look at me a certain way to not cave, like, instantaneously.”

For Kylie, who continues to use her platform to promote positive parenting and real-life conversations, the criticism hasn’t shaken her confidence. She and Jason remain focused on what matters most—their daughters and the family values they’re building together.

As Kylie put it simply: “We like the names. They make us happy. And that’s all that really matters.”

After decades of headlines, heartbreak, and hit songs, Cher may be preparing to walk down the aisle once again—this time, ahead of her 80th birthday.

According to reports from several sources, the legendary “If I Could Turn Back Time” singer is set to marry her boyfriend, music executive Alexander “AE” Edwards, 39. The two have been together for three years, and despite their 40-year age gap, sources say they’re deeply in love and ready to make it official.

“Cher doesn’t give a hoot about their age difference and they’re both ready to commit to each other,” one insider told The Mirror. “She sees her upcoming celebration at turning 80 as the perfect time for her and Alexander to seal the deal.”

While Cher’s representative told Page Six the wedding rumors aren’t true, the singer hasn’t been shy about expressing her affection for Edwards. In a recent CBS Mornings interview with Gayle King, she smiled as she talked about their relationship. “You know, you get older but your spirit is younger,” she said. “I just love him. I think he’s beautiful and he’s really talented.”

The couple first made headlines in late 2022 after being spotted holding hands in Los Angeles. Shortly after, Cher went online to confirm their romance, telling fans on X (formerly Twitter), “Let Me Explain…I DONT GIVE A [flying] FK WHAT ANYONE THINKS. I’m Not Defending Us. Haters are Gonna Hate…Doesn’t Matter That we’re Happy & Not Bothering Anyone.”

That bold, unapologetic tone has always been part of Cher’s charm. And her joy seems genuine. “Nobody knows what goes on between us,” she told King. “We just have a blast.”

The pair even share sweet moments with Edwards’ six-year-old son, Slash, from his previous relationship with Amber Rose. Cher described the boy as “smart, funny,” and “a delight,” adding, “I used to say, ‘God, give me a toddler and a man,’ and I got exactly what I asked for.”

Today, the couple reportedly lives together in Cher’s sprawling Malibu mansion, where they enjoy a mix of glamour, music, and laughter. It’s a far cry from the turmoil of her early marriages to Sonny Bono and Gregg Allman, both of which brought fame—and pain. In her memoir, Cher wrote that she sometimes felt “trapped” in her marriage to Sonny, who she said could be controlling. But she also acknowledged that those experiences shaped her strength and independence.

Now, nearly half a century later, Cher seems to have found peace and joy again. Whether or not wedding bells actually ring, one thing is certain: she’s living life on her own terms.

As she told CBS Mornings, “They’re not living my life. Nobody knows what goes on between us. We just have a blast.”

For a woman who’s reinvented herself time and again, it seems Cher’s greatest encore may be the one where she simply gets to love—and be loved—freely.

Love stories that stand the test of time are rare, and Sir Richard Branson and his wife Joan Templeman shared one that spanned five beautiful decades. On November 25th, the Virgin Group founder announced the heartbreaking news that his beloved wife of 35 years had passed away at the age of 80.

Branson shared the loss on Instagram, writing, “Heartbroken to share that Joan, my wife and partner for 50 years, has passed away. She was my best friend, my rock, my guiding light, my world.” He added that Joan was “the most wonderful mum and grandmum our kids and grandkids could have ever wished for.”

A post shared by Richard Branson (@richardbranson)

The couple’s love story began in 1976 when Branson spotted Joan working in a small shop in London. He later wrote, “I fell in love with her from the first moment I saw her, while she worked in a bric-a-brac shop in Westbourne Grove. A blonde-haired, down-to-earth Scottish beauty who didn’t suffer fools, Joan was unlike any other woman I had ever met.”

Branson, who was then a young entrepreneur still finding his footing, admitted he was smitten almost instantly. “I often make up my mind about someone within 30 seconds of meeting them, and I fell for Joan almost from the moment I saw her,” he wrote in a 2020 blog post. “Joan was a down-to-earth Scottish lady, and I quickly realised she wouldn’t be impressed by my usual antics.”

Their love was deep, steady, and full of grand gestures. In fact, Branson credited the purchase of Necker Island, now his famous private retreat in the Caribbean, to Joan. “Two years after we had first met, I wanted to show Joan a grand gesture of affection,” he recalled. “Before we knew it, Joan and I were high in the sky, looking down over our future home. It was the second time I experienced love at first sight.”

The two married on Necker Island in 1989 and built a family together. They had three children: Holly, 44, Sam, 40, and Clare Sarah, who tragically died just four days after being born prematurely. Despite the wealth and fame surrounding their lives, Joan chose to remain private. “From the beginning, Joan was a very private person, and the over four decades we have been together she has remained so,” Branson once wrote. “She has always been keen to avoid the public eye.”

In July, Branson celebrated Joan’s 80th birthday with a touching tribute, thanking her for standing by him through “the highs, the lows, and all those quiet, content, and peaceful moments in-between.”

Now, as he mourns the loss of the woman he called his “world,” Branson’s words remind us that true love isn’t found in grand adventures or fortunes, but in the steady companionship of someone who knows your heart better than anyone else.

Separate Beds May Improve Your Sleep — But Your Relationship Might Pay the Price, New Study Suggests https://www.familytoday.com/relationships/separate-beds-may-improve-your-sleep-but-your-relationship-might-pay-the-price-new-study-suggests/ Tue, 18 Nov 2025 16:33:00 +0000 https://www.familytoday.com/?p=72605 Why the choice to share — or split — a bed could shape relationship health.

The post Separate Beds May Improve Your Sleep — But Your Relationship Might Pay the Price, New Study Suggests appeared first on FamilyToday.

]]>
For many couples, a good night’s sleep feels like the ultimate relationship goal. And with trends like “sleep divorce” or the Scandinavian sleep method gaining popularity, more partners are trying out life in separate beds—or even separate rooms—to get some rest. However, according to a new study, sleeping apart may come with emotional downsides that couples often overlook.

Researchers in Taiwan surveyed 860 older heterosexual couples to understand how sleeping arrangements impact emotional well-being. Their findings, published in BMC Public Health, revealed a clear pattern: older couples who slept in separate rooms reported poorer psychological well-being than those who shared a bed.

The study measured factors such as happiness, life satisfaction, and a sense of fulfillment, and compared them to couples’ sleep arrangements. Surprisingly, sharing a home was less important for well-being than sharing a sleeping space. The researchers concluded that how couples sleep is a “significant factor” in their overall emotional health and should be viewed within the context of the relationship itself.

Wendy Troxel, Ph.D., a sleep expert and senior scientist at RAND Corporation, spoke with Fox News Digital about the findings. Troxel, who wasn’t involved in the research, said the results could reflect the impact of emotional distance.

"At first glance, that appears to support the commonly held belief that sleeping separately signals something negative in a relationship," she said.

She also pointed out what makes this study stand out. "What’s unique about this new study is that it suggests the couple’s sleeping arrangement itself may influence well-being, highlighting how intimately sleep and relationships are linked in supporting health across the lifespan."

However, Troxel cautioned that the study was cross-sectional, meaning it shows a link but not a clear cause and effect. In other words, couples who sleep apart may already be dealing with issues that affect both sleep and mental health.

"It may be that older couples who sleep apart already face health or sleep challenges, such as chronic illness, sleep apnea or insomnia, which affect both their decision to sleep separately and their mental health," she explained. She added that researchers also didn’t explore why couples chose separate rooms, which can make a major difference in how that choice affects them.

Troxel noted that older adults face “double vulnerability” when it comes to sleep and mental wellness. Up to half of adults over 60 report insomnia or disrupted sleep. And as people age, sleep naturally becomes lighter, more fragmented, and often shifts to earlier hours. At the same time, mental health challenges like depression, loneliness and anxiety become more common, creating what Troxel calls a “feedback loop that undermines mental health.”

Still, she emphasized that there’s no one “right” way for couples to sleep. "For some, sharing a bed fosters closeness and security," she said. "For others, especially when sleep disorders or incompatible habits are at play, separate bedrooms can be a wise and health-promoting choice, provided that couples arrive at this decision through open and honest communication."

Physical closeness does offer real benefits. Cuddling releases oxytocin—the “love hormone”—which lowers stress and boosts feelings of safety. However, snoring, tossing and turning, or even variations in body temperature can create sleep disruptions of their own.

"Chronic poor sleep erodes mood, empathy and patience, key ingredients in a healthy relationship," Troxel noted.

For couples who sleep apart, Troxel encourages finding small ways to stay emotionally connected, like sharing a nighttime wind-down routine before parting for the night.

"Ultimately, the healthiest sleeping arrangement is the one that supports consistent, quality sleep, emotional connection and long-term well-being," she said.

An Australian food influencer known for promoting natural living has tragically passed away after giving birth to her first child at home.

Stacey Hatfield, the founder of the toxin-free food brand Natural Spoonfuls, died on September 29, 2025, following what her husband described as “an unforeseen and extremely rare complication.”

Her husband, Nathan Warnecke, shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram, writing, “It’s with a heavy heart that I share with you the unexpected passing of my beautiful wife, soul mate and best friend, Stacey Warnecke (Hatfield).”

According to Nathan, Stacey had “successfully” delivered their baby boy, Axel, at home — something she had long dreamed of. “Tragically, shortly after, an unforeseen and extremely rare complication arose and she passed after being transferred to hospital,” he wrote. “Hospital staff were amazing and did the utmost to help, but ultimately nothing could be done despite their best efforts.”

Nathan described Stacey as the love of his life — someone who made him “the man I am today.” He continued, “She was the light of my life and the reason I got up in the morning. Words can’t do justice to how devastating this is for myself and everyone that knew and loved her. She was my lighthouse in the storm and the world is less bright without her in it.”

The couple had been together for nine years and married in 2024. “As her husband, I couldn’t ask for a better partner,” Nathan shared. “She was the most beautiful, loving, caring, hardworking, disciplined, intelligent and trustworthy human being I’ve ever known. The happiest day of my life was getting to marry her, my best friend, on a white sand beach in the Maldives.”

Stacey launched Natural Spoonfuls in 2019, encouraging families to embrace cleaner, more mindful eating. Later, she expanded her work to include social media content creation through a company she co-founded called Waffl. Nathan said he was “so proud of her for everything she achieved in her professional life,” adding, “It was her life’s biggest dream to be a mum. She did it. On her terms, exactly the way she always dreamed of doing it.”

He said Stacey “loved being pregnant” and spent every day of those nine months telling their unborn son that she loved him. “She held Axel when he was born, nursed him, saw that he was a boy and loved him. She loved him so much and still continues to love him,” Nathan wrote.

So far, $24,926 Australian dollars has been raised out of a $28,000 goal on GoFundMe to help with funeral costs, as well as household bills, baby supplies and time off work for Nathan.

In the description, it was revealed that Hatfield died just two months before the couple's wedding anniversary.
